Abstract
A description of a data acquisition system is provided. The system acquires data in a PISCES submersible for ocean microstructure and macrostructure studies and features 32 analog and 32 digital channels to 16 bit resolution at a maximum sample rate of 10,000 channels/second. Dual type drives facilitate continuous data series while a portable terminal, which provides control and display functions, is used remotely by the operator. Proper shielding techniques resulted in extremely small internal noise levels and very large quantities of data resulted from the first series of dives.
