Abstract
A technique for cleaning up a thinned object in an image is presented. This trimming technique removes extraneous lines due to artifacts in the thinning procedure and certain forms of noise that are present in the original image. The method was developed as a part of a system for extracting information from oblique ionograms. The performance of the method for this case is demonstrated and some implementation details are discussed
