Abstract
The philosophy of an independent inventor/designer entering the field of air cushion vehicles is discussed. The growth of the concept is traced through six pure prototype vehicles. The characteristics of the seventh vehicle, the pre-production prototype, are examined and a short film shows that vehicle in operation during recent U. S. Navy and Marine Corps demonstrations. Some practical applications for this vehicle are illustrated using examples based on approaches to the developer by potential operators.
