Abstract
Calabazas Creek Research Inc. (CCR) has developed a 1 A, 90 kV electron gun for use as an injector for accelerators. The gun uses a commercial gridded cathode with an external grid driver to produce 10 mus-long pulse trains of 1 ns pulses. The pulse train has a repetition frequency of 36.67 MHz. Detailed simulations were used to minimize the emittance. Results of the simulations and tests of the gun are reported.
