Abstract :
The STARTS initiative consists of two programmes, the original STARTS to address real-time systems development and IT-STARTS covering the information technology areas. These run in parallel with a significant amount of cross-fertilisation and common technical concerns between the two. While the programmes address different detail and user communities they are both aimed at users and suppliers of software systems. An overview of the initiative is given
