Abstract
Wireless ATM is a rapidly evolving technology in the telecommunications field. One of the many issues that needs to be addressed in this technology is congestion control in the wireless part of the ATM network. This paper deals with wireless ATM congestion control, taking into account the impairments of the wireless link. The wireless link bit error rate quality, the overheads of the wireless ATM MAC protocol, the retransmissions needed in several ATM connections are some of the issues considered by the congestion mechanism proposed in this paper
