Abstract
The author discusses a novel design using a suspended substrate line, low-loss feed network incorporating electromagnetically coupled, large bandwidth, dual slot radiators. In view of its good performance and low tolerance characteristics, this design is suitable for both spaceborne and commercial series production applications as demonstrated by two application examples examined here: a commercial flat antenna for 12 GHz satellite TV, already introduced ink the European market, and an S-band subarray for a spaceborne active array. The design philosophy is discussed for these applications and measured results are given for the above frequency bands.<>
