  • Abstract
SDL environment is an integrated environment based on common representation of SDL and transformation among different representations. It includes a graphical environment to draw, maintain, and print SDL/GR diagrams, a static SDL analyzer to check static semantics of SDL descriptions and also to produce useful documents based on an entity-relationship model; a dynamic SDL analyzer to check dynamic semantics based on numerical Petri-net (NPN) models; and transformers among SDL/GR, SDL/PR, CHILL, SDL database, and NPN language. The authors introduce the SDL Environment and common representation in the context of the integration of various tools. They present the graphical environment, running on a SUN workstation, that may be said to be SDL-oriented in the sense of template-driven drawing and its internal representation of diagrams without loss of SDL semantics. Modeling and development methodologies to build analyzers are introduced. Transformers between languages through common representation are described
