Abstract :
The layout editor from Gate Array CAD package, QUICKCHIP was extended to allow a variable number of layers with variable design rules for each layer, and variable connectivity between layers. Some important features of QUICKCHIP are: layout is built from a circuit description; circuit and layout are described hierarchically; design rules are correct by construction; all mask shapes are constructed from rectangles; and the user interface is the same
