The HF guidelines and a user-computer interface protocol

The authors introduce the published HF guidelines; then they describe a user-computer interface protocol recommended by the HF guidelines. The guidelines and protocol are compilations of useful advice which reflect the current wisdom of the human factors community. The paper illustrates selected features of the HF guidelines and the user-computer interface protocol so that they may be discussed in the context of formal standards
