Sizing software for electrical machines

The authors describe two programs for the design of complete switched-reluctance brushless adjustable-speed drives. Of the two SR drive design programs, one (PC-SRD) is designed for very rapid preliminary design or `sizing´. Using PC-SRD it is possible to generate a design to almost any specification within literally a few minutes. The second program, FSRD, has most of the capability of PC-SRD for calculating the performance of a given design; but it can also interface directly with finite-element calculations which are used for detailed magnetic calculations.
