Abstract
As a format for transmission and storage of multimedia data, MPEG2 transport stream is widely used in various Video-on-Demand systems. However, it cannot provide effective support for interactive operations. In order to support fast-forward and rewind operations, the I-frames of MPEG2 transport stream should be located rapidly. Traditional I-frame searching algorithms are not very efficient or accurate. This paper proposes a fast I-frame searching algorithm for MPEG2 transport stream. The algorithm uses statistical characteristics of I-frame distribution and Chebyshev´s inequality to predict I-frame positions. Simulation results show that this algorithm has higher efficiency and accuracy than existing methods.
