Abstract :
As a result of the National Maritime Institute´s extensive experience in the use of unattended wave height monitoring equipment in coastal waters, it became apparent that there were several areas where improvements were desirable. A development programme in conjunction with a commercial company was undertaken to produce a new wavebuoy. The programme, the buoy and the various calibrations and trials are described in detail in this paper.
