Abstract
Concerns the problems of attempting to resynthesize natural sounding speech using parametrically controlled models of the human vocal tract. Although the work is based on investigations carried out using the parallel formant synthesiser developed by the Joint Speech Research Unit, many of the problems encountered are relevant to other vocal tract models. The aim is not to present solutions, but to examine the problems and current thinking concerning further development in this field
