Abstract
In this paper it is presented a design procedure for identification and control of the metal level on the aluminium casting process. This process is the final step of the aluminium production and is extremely related to the product quality issues. The automatic control of the metal level allows operators focus on other activities and reduces product variability due to disturbances. This avoid production losses and contribute to achieve the process optimum performance. The design scheme is based on digital control framework. A supervisory controller is proposed also to handle complete process automation. Some issues are considered in order to allow control system implementation using a Programable Logical Controller. Real application data illustrates the effectiveness of the design scheme.
