Abstract :
Grid technology has implemented effectively large scale resource share and high performance task collaboration, while grid workflow enables automated integration and automated execution based on grid services. However, currently transaction research on grid workflow is still not mature, and there are limitations when traditional transaction management approaches from transactional workflow are applied on it. An approach on grid services transaction management for grid workflow based on our four-way-hand-shake mechanism is presented, which identifies a two-layer transaction model. Supertransaction model provides relaxed transaction for grid workflow supported by transaction exception handling strategies of grid services, and sub-transaction model provides flat transaction with strict ACID properties supported by our extended two phase-commit protocol. Compared to traditional measures, our approach can cater for requirements for long-duration transaction and short-duration transaction. Thereby, reliable transaction processing ability of grid workflow based on grid services can be achieved.
