  • Abstract
Lithium niobate optical switches show great promise for use in communications, principally because they can be used in systems where the data rate is much higher than would otherwise be possible. The local area networks that have been built using optical switches are reviewed. An obvious application of optical switches is as a node bypass in a ring network
