  • Abstract
    The treatment of swine manure using anaerobic digesters provides the formation of biogas, a fuel gas composed, mainly, of methane and carbon dioxide. One form of exploitation of biogas is its use in power generation. This paper aims to evaluate the performance of an engine-generator set powered by biogas regarding the power quality under various loading conditions. Using a power analyzer, were recorded electrical quantities like voltage, current, harmonic distortion and frequency. The results showed that the power quality is satisfactory for the service to local facilities. However, the variations in power frequency detected may hinder the connection to the distribution network to supply overbalance energy to the concessionaire.
