Abstract
To fully appreciate the range of uplink services that are going to be provided by Satellite Information Services (SIS) it is worth examining the services that SIS provide in 1989. In 1986 the change in the legislation allowed television into betting shops for the first time, this led to the possibility of a new integrated television and communications package for the betting industry. Satellite emerged as the most effective method of transmission. SIS was set up to develop the project for the benefit of the entire betting industry
