Abstract :
The authors address the development of software tools to support the documentation, analysis, and implementation of specification and description language (SDL) systems. These tools consist of a graphical SDL editor and analyzer, a high-level programming language and its compiler, an operating system, and a debugger, all of which are currently being used in the development of small-capacity switching systems. The most important characteristics of these tools are presented along with the results obtained with their practical adoption. The authors also present plans for further development and an example
