Abstract :
Summary form only given, as follows. Multi-channel and mobile applications are becoming a main challenge in conceiving, designing, and releasing next-generation information systems. New technologies, like Wi-fi networks and UMTS, are offering an infrastructure that makes it necessary to rethink of information systems to supply applications usable with different devices and in different contexts. These new systems could also be the spark to foster new business models and encourage new ways of work. This new wave of information systems is going to exploit the knowledge developed and deployed for conventional information systems, but needs also new concepts, models, methodologies, and supporting technologies to fully exploit the potentialities of the enabling infrastructure and be ready for the challenge. Systems will be more scalable, open, flexible, adaptable, and distributed. In this setting, the workshop aims at being an opportunity for the different communities that are working on these problems to meet and share their knowledge to set appropriate theoretical foundations, development methodologies, and supporting technology. The workshop aims also at promoting research directions by providing a forum where academic and industrial researchers can share and disseminate ideas related to innovative methods and technologies. The idea of the workshop is to host significant and high-quality contributions in all related topics, with the goal of creating a forum in which the participants can gain insights into the current state of affairs in the field, the future challenges, and the possibilities of creating synergies through integration and cross-cooperation.
