Abstract
Gives a short account of a research project, funded by the IED, which is now in its fourth year. Its title is FAUST, and it is a real-time knowledge-based system whose task is to diagnose faults which occur in the electricity supply grid at area level (particularly, in its present form, at the 132 kV level). The paper concentrates on the developments which have been incorporated into the current version, known as FAUST 2
