VXI-a standard for the future

The author presents an overview of VXIbus developments and discusses its impact on the ATE industry. The adoption of VXI as an industry standard for instruments on a card is considered a significant step. It brings multi-vendor respectability to modular systems, and with it the confidence that modules will become available to design smaller test systems, while, in many cases, achieving much improved performance over equivalent IEEE-488 systems
