The contribution of standards to network management

Examines the way in which OSI standards clarify thinking on network management and describes the mechanisms which will provide the `toolbox´ necessary for the management of open networks. The author also considers the practical issues currently outstanding and suggests a way forward for telecommunications managers who wish to implement management systems in the near future
