Abstract
M2M communications are capturing the attention of many stakeholders from application developers to mobile operators. Recent initiatives of the GSMA and of mobile operators show their interest in finding new sources of revenue through the adoption of wireless connectivity in a wide range of devices. A route to market these M2M devices can thus involve creating a platform of services that adds value and functionality to the devices and is a result of a combination of synergies between device manufacturers, application developers and mobile operators. Based on specific technical scenarios, this paper discusses several business scenarios wherein these stakeholders assume different levels of control over the customer relationship and the assets that make up the value proposition.
