Abstract :
As part of the implementation programme of the traffic control system for the Tuen Mun-Yuen Long light rapid transit (LRT) system in Hong Kong, in which light rail traffic runs on streets along with other traffic, it was proposed that a computerised simulation method of control should be included. The program FLEXSYT was found to fit the needs of the proposed simulation best and the Dutch Ministry of Transport was asked to do a case study on whether there is a need to use main road detection at the MN5 junction and what are the consequences of giving priority to LRT-vehicles at that junction. Plessey´s T200 signal controller is used
