Abstract :
Fingerprint image quality estimation was an important step of automatic fingerprint identify system (AFIS). The quality of fingerprint image from scanner affected seriously preprocessing and identifying. The paper analyzed the exiting detailed regulations, discussed the influence to fingerprint quality from valid area, range of gray-scale, dry, wet to deflection. A new method was proposed to estimate fingerprint image quality based on information about edge-minutiaes for providing qualified fingerprint image. Experimental results show that it can filter unqualified fingerprint image effectively, and it is helpful to raise the efficiency of whole system.
