Abstract :
Discusses the potential of neural network techniques within a large telecommunications company. Firstly, some areas in which neural nets (NNs) may be applied are reviewed, and the hoped for benefits resulting from their application are discussed. Secondly, the issues which are currently exercising the minds of NN researchers are examined, and work currently being undertaken at British Telecom Research Laboratories is described in that context
