  • Abstract
The influence of gender and age on the QT interval dispersion calculated from the 12-lead ECG is taken into account For this purpose, a population based (aged from 65 to 85 years old) ECG database has been used Three groups have been identified by clinical data: healthy subjects, patients with hypertension and with cardiac diseases. Age (<75 and >75 years) and gender subgroups have been considered. The study showed that age and gender influenced the QT dispersion differently in the three groups. In fact QT-dispersion indices are influenced in the healthy group by gender (p<0.01), in the group of subjects with cardiac disease by age (p<0.01), while in the hypertension group by age (p<0.01) and gender (p>0.01)
