Abstract :
By using a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser as the fundamental pump source, characterisation of waveguides for SHG can be carried out by making use of the high peak powers available, whilst the low average powers mean that optical damage is not a problem. Since, in practice, many applications require the use of pulses with high peak powers, a knowledge of the waveguide properties for a pulsed source is desirable
