Abstract :
An analysis of intracavity second harmonic generation (SHG) modelocking has predicted pulse durations as short as 10 ps for a Nd:YAG laser. In the authors´ experiments the SHG crystal was placed in an external cavity in order to avoid the problems associated with using an intracavity arrangement, in particular the introduction of loss into the laser cavity
