Abstract
Capenhurst has been involved in the use of microprocessor-based equipment on the distribution system for some years. The author looks at the transient earth voltage set of instruments which measure partial discharges; the loss tangent meter which determines the purity of capacitive reactance; and the SLURP detector which measures the level of free water in iron-clad switchgear
