Abstract
The problem of identifying diagnostic information in body surface potential maps has been evaluated with a special regard on the diagnostic performance (DP) attainable by different methodologies. The very same set of data was analyzed by different approaches. Results underline the suboptimal nature of stepwise linear discriminant analysis widely used in statistical evaluations. In the authors´ examples the KL domain BSPM representation as a preprocessing step before the application of stepwise linear discriminant analysis had considerable benefits. In KL domain the theoretical limit of the DP was approached by a few components even in forward direction, while the measurement domain analysis failed to converge to the optimal DP value
