Abstract
A unique unmanned deep-sea submersible, capable of operation in depths beyond the reach of conventional diving systems or ship sensors, is being built by Sperry for the Royal Navy. The Sperry Towed Unmanned Submersible (TUMS) will perform a wide range of search, identification, classification, and recovery operations at full ocean depths using optic, acoustic, and magnetic sensors and a manipulator arm.
