Abstract
Considers the use of satellite links to carry audio signals either for radio-outside broadcast links or programme exchange between participating broadcasters. The involvement of the EBU has allowed tests and proposed operational use over the EBU-leased transponders. Tests on various systems are reported and the most suitable system (which has been chosen as an EBU standard) is highlighted. During the course of the work a new channel allocation within the EBU-leased transponders was proposed. Tests to investigate the feasibility of the new allocation are discussed and the implications on the use of the transponders to carry audio signals are noted
