Abstract :
EPD-CAR (Electronic Patient Dossier for Cardiology) is a project of the Interuniversitary Cardiology Institute of the Netherlands. Herein the departments of Cardiology of the eight University Hospitals in the Netherlands work together in coupling their hospital information systems with cardiac information systems, including solutions for cardiac signals, images and equipment. After an examination of the outpatient clinic in the University Hospital VU in Amsterdam, a list of clinical and technical wishes and demands for a multi component workstation has been generated. Using this list, a 4-component cardiac workstation has been built for supporting the cardiology outpatient clinic in the VU Hospital. Keeping in mind the modular setup of the workstation and the web-based claims, COM architecture with active-X tools have been chosen
