Abstract
The autocorrelation and impulse sequences of a discrete system are utilized to develop a new technique for the approximation of 2-D separable-in-denominator digital filters. It is shown that the proposed scheme guarantees the stability of the approximated filter. A numerical example is presented to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed approach
