Abstract

Japanese digital terrestrial television and sound broadcasting (named as ISDB-T integrated services digital broadcasting-terrestrial) was launched in 2003. The broadcasting system can provide various services by using a narrow-band "segment" for handheld reception use. In order to realize a handheld terminal which is restricted in term of size, power consumption and so on, we have developed a compact "front-end" module, applied for one ISDB-T transmission segment. The "front-end" module is composed of a tuner, a demodulator and so forth. In this paper, we describe some features of the compact module and technologies.
