Abstract :
In order to reach the optimum shape in adaptive cable domes the paths satisfying geometric stability are essential. Based on the theory of geometric stability for tensegrity structures, a novel approach which can determine geometric stable paths for shape adjustments is presented utilizing the symmetry of the structures. The research manifests more symmetrical planes without joints in during shape adjustments will increase the possibilities of satisfying geometric stability. Furthermore, an example study is performed and the results validate the proposed predictions.
