Abstract :
To ensure the safe evacuating environment in an urban traffic tunnel fire, the performance based design of smoke control strategy was applied in this paper. A preliminary design of the smoke control strategy was evaluated by using the software FDS. By analyzing the distribution of the temperature and visibility around the fire source, it was found that the preliminary strategy could not satisfy the requirement for the evacuation. After modifying the preliminary strategy, the smoke control effects and evacuation results were simulated and analyzed again. The results indicate that the improved strategy could successfully control the movement of the smoke and provide desirable evacuating environment.
