Abstract :
Presents a comparison between 16-ary differentially encoded QAM (16-ary DEQAM) and 16-ary differentially encoded PSK (16-ary DEPSK) signallings through a typical nonlinear satellite link in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and adjacent channel interference (ACI). Then, the performance of 16-ary QAM transmission with various predistortion techniques is given. The effect of replacing travelling wave tube amplifiers (TWTA) with solid-state power amplifiers (SSPA) on the 16-ary DEQAM performance is next presented. Finally, the results of recently reported field tests for 16-ary QAM transmission over satellite links are given
