Wave data collected during ARSLOE at distances 3, 6, 12 and 34 km offshore are used to examine the growth of wind waves with fetch. Nondimensional energy,

, and peak frequency,

, are computed and related to nondimensional fetch,

, for a variety of windspeed and atmospheric stability cases. Relations for

vs

,

vs

, and

vs

are compared to those reported in the literature. The JONSWAP equations are found to be appropriate, despite the presence of significant swell.
