Abstract
Quantel has developed a high resolution system (the Graphic Paintbox), initially for print use. An HDTV display monitor was used as a working display rather than the various other colour displays of similar resolution which are used for computer graphics applications. An HDTV live input frame capture facility was also developed as an option. The machine works to the most widely used HDTV standard (1125 line 60 fields per second). An experimental machine working to the proposed European standard (1250 lines 50 fields) has also been successfully demonstrated
