Abstract
3-dimensional digital engineering with 3D CAD, which Japanese manufacturers strongly believe improves productivity, has been introduced into the design processes of various products including machine parts, automobiles, electronics and molded metal products. It has also changed the subsequent manufacturing process. This report examines 3-dimensional digital engineering-"the ultimate manufacturing process"-from the viewpoint of engineering management.
