Abstract :
Radiation-induced removal of Pb2+ ( 0.1 mmol-L-1 ) in aqueous solutions by γ-irradiation was studied in this paper. The results showed that the removal of Pb2+ by γ-irradiation was first-order reaction. Several factors which might affect the removal efficiency of Pb2+ were examed. Dissolved oxygen (DO) in water restrained the removal of Pb2+. Sodium carbonate (Na2CO3) was added into the solution as relatively non-toxic hydroxyl radical scavenger. And the removal efficiency of Pb2+ was enhanced after the addition of 0.1 mmol/L Na2CO3. The removal efficiency of Pb2+ decreased in the presence of organic matters (such as EDTA). And increasing irradiation dosage was a better way to weaken the impact of organic matters to the removal of Pb2+ by γ-irradiation.
