  • Abstract
Thyristor-based circuit breakers are very simple devices. In essence they interrupt current by either injecting a counter-current from a pre-charged capacitance source into the cathode terminal of SCR devices or into the gate terminals of GTO devices. The author discusses these current interruption techniques, the switching overvoltages, and the operating principles
