  • Abstract
The simulation experiment and analysis were conducted to evaluate the tension in the geomembrane which was installed on the bottom and side slope of a waste landfill. Firstly, the friction angle and adhesion were obtained between non-woven geotextile and sand, HDPE geomembrane by direct shear experiments. Secondly, the tension in the geomembrane was measured by filling in the small landfill. The results showed the tension in the geomembrane became larger with the increase of the height of sand. The tension in the geomembrane are analyzed by the limit equilibrium and FEM, the calculation by the limit equilibrium are far larger than the experimental values; the calculation by the FEM are as similar as the experimental values.
