Abstract :
Surface chemical analysis of in-contact tested regions detects lubricant removal by desorption and fragments with carboxyl end groups on the overcoat. Formation of a carboxylic acid-amine complex and metal carboxylates is proposed to explain the observed changes in the water adsorption isotherm on the tested regions.
