Abstract :
The overturning of inflatable liferafts in heavy weather has been of international concern for some considerable time. A research programme in the United Kingdom has examined the stability aspects of these rafts with a view to improving their performance. This paper presents some of the results achieved by this programme which indicate that a marked improvement can be made to liferaft performance for a small increase in cost and bulk.
