Abstract
The unidirectional lightweight encapsulation (ULE) is designed to efficiently transport IPv4/IPv6 over MPEG-2 networks, such as digital video broadcasting (DVB) and Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) which have been defined for various transmission systems like satellite, cable or terrestrial. ULE has little overhead and is flexible, however, hardware manufacturers of integrated receiver decoders may find it difficult to implement. In this paper, a hardware decapsulator for ULE is presented. Besides detailing the state machine and discussing the VHDL code the paper also provides first measurement results
